York

Widely considered as Yorkshire's best weekend breaks, historic York has all the ingredients of a top European city break. A veritable feast of attractions, from historic sights such as York Minster, castle and city walls to its many museums, art galleries, contemporary art centres, chic shops, bars and cafes to riverboat trips along the River Ouse.

Harrogate

Ripon

The city of Ripon is located in North Yorkshire on the River Ure. Ripon is a beautiful market town that was founded over 1300 years ago, and is famous as an old Cathedral City where monasteries have stood since the 7th Century.
The old city of Ripon is filled with shops, cafes, restaurants, and pubs, and also boasts many historical buildings and museums, including Ripon Cathedral, the Wakeman’s House, Studley Royal, Fountains Abbey and Ripon Spa Gardens where a Victorian bandstand is set.

Thirsk
Thirsk Market Square
Thirsk is an old fashioned market town in the Vale of Mowbray North Yorkshire. Famous for its race course, 15th Century Church and Thomas Lord. Thirsk is also the Darrowby of the late James Herriot (Alf Wight), famous vet and author. Thirsk and Sowerby are set in the centre of "Herriot Country" Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west and the North York Moors National Park to the east. Thirsk is about 320km north of London, 230km south of Edinburgh and 35km north west of York. The estimated population of Thirsk in 2001 was 4460, Sowerby 3610 and Carlton Miniott 920.
